FIRST ANNUAL NATURE PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION 2009-2010

Objective: “to celebrate the beauty and diversity of nature through the art of photography, and to use this far-reaching medium as a creative tool for encouraging greater public interest in outdoor enjoyment and conservation stewardship”.

Themes:
1) Nature and Landscape – including pictures in natural light, forests, mountain ranges, lakes, rivers, oceans, beaches etc.
2) Animals and Wildlife – including but not limited to birds, insects, fish etc.
3) Flowers – one or more

Categories:
A. Images clicked on cellphones/cameras with 5 Mega Pixel resolutions or less(Category A)
B. Images clicked on cameras with resolutions higher than 5 Mega Pixels (Category B)

Four cash prizes will be awarded, two in each category (irrespective of the theme):
1st Prize - Rs 1000
2nd Prize - Rs 750

JUDGE OF THE EVENT – VARUN AUGUSTUS MITHAL
Varun Augustus Mithal has done his BA in Radio and Television along with diplomas in Mass Communication and Photography. His areas of interest are Nature, Architecture and Fashion. He has had a solo exhibition themed on Kashmir at the Indian Habitat Centre, New Delhi which was much appreciated. Apart from this, he has covered the Delhi Fashion Week 2009 and has shot for various fashion designers.

The decision of the Judge will be final and no further query would be entertained.

Note:
- The list of themes is merely illustrative; entries must be relevant to the specified themes.

- Each participant can submit a maximum of 3 entries irrespective of the category and themes.

- All submissions have to be made to natcom.contest@gmail.com. Any entry sent to any other email id will be disqualified.

- Last Date of Submission of Entries: 6th Feb, 2010

- All entries should be sent in one mail only. In case of more than one mail, only the entries in the first mail shall be accepted.

- Every participant is required to mention:
1) Name and year of participant
2) Caption of the photograph (caption must be the name of the photograph)
3) The theme the photograph is on.
4) The category the entry is in
5) Camera mega pixels.
6) The camera manufacturer and model
7) The time and place the image was captured
