"Nature uses only the longest threads to weave her patterns, so that each small piece of her fabric reveals the organization of the entire tapestry." - Richard Feynman
We, humans are an important part of this tapestry, not just blending in with the fabric, but lending colour to all the other parts. The World as we know today is run, controlled and defined by humans. Even though other species live on this little blue planet, it is humans who possess self awareness and have the duty and the capacity to save the heirs of the earth from extinction. As Richard Feynman says, “We are at the very beginning of time for the human race. It is not unreasonable that we grapple with problems. But there are tens of thousands of years in the future. Our responsibility is to do what we can, learn what we can, improve the solutions, and pass them on.”
We are heading towards a new era – an era of nemesis. The situation is nothing less than a global crisis. Talks about the ozone hole, global warming and climate change on the news headlines are not new anymore. Given the grave situation that we live in why is it that we are oblivious of them? We are made to study about the environment in school and that is it. Our habits never seem to change. With the global trends in rapid industrialization and population explosion, the principle of sustainable development remains the key to the ultimate scheme of things - survival of our planet. We do not live in isolation with others. Ours is a global village and as citizens of this global village, we are duty bound to take action in our own small spheres of influence. As students of this educational institution we have some duties towards the environment and the community at large, and the Nature Committee is a great initiative in this regard.
And the past is past. Here we have a fresh beginning.
