Nature Committee – Tentative Agenda for the year 2009-2010

This is not an all exhaustive agenda. The things given are our priority but there are other issues also which the Nature Committee will take up in due course of time.
  • Plan for Better-Upkeepment of the Quadrangle Ground – Beautification of the Quadrangle ground is one of the top priority of the Nature Committee this year.
  • Minimal Use of Polythene Bags – The Committee has in its agenda the work of campaigning against use of polythene bags inside the campus.
  • Wages of the Workers – The Nature Committee has decided this year to raise the issue of low salaries of the gardeners employed. It is our duty to make the university understand the plight of these people employed on low wages without any social security schemes
  • Environmental Campaigning –We being conscious law students have an obligation to not only do things inside the campus but also spread general awareness around college about general issues like planting of trees, minimal use of polythene bags and garbage management of biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste etc.
  • Academic Involvement – This year, the Nature Committee is planning to organize a seminar on the theme of ‘Our Mutual Responsibility against Climate Change’. In addition to this, the Committee will also be organizing essay competitions and poster-making competitions this year.

Why did we come out with a blog outlining our agenda? Because, the work done by Nature Committee affects one and all in varying degrees and so, the idea is to involve more members from the general body in the work of the Nature Committee. It is a committee formed with the purpose of making life at NUJS a little more easy and comfortable. And, for that the committee needs active participation from the general body members in addition to your ideas.
